Dr Mary McCormack qualified as a doctor from Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital, London in 1993. Prior to attending medical school she undertook research in radiation biology and was awarded a PhD in 1989. She has worked in some of the top London cancer centres and was awarded the FRCR in clinical oncology (chemotherapy and radiotherapy) in 2000. Mary was subsequently appointed as a consultant at UCLH in March 2002. She is a clinical oncologist, offering chemotherapy and radiotherapy, with expertise in the treatment of gynaecological (ovary, cervix, womb, vulva and vagina) and breast cancers. The recipient of research grants from Cancer Research UK for trials in cervical and endometrial cancer, Mary is also a member of National Cancer Research Institute gynaecological clinical studies group and the Gynecologic Cancer Intergroup (GCIG). She is a major contributor to national and international clinical trials, a medical advisor to Jo’s Trust and a founding member of Debbie Fund, a UCL based charity dedicated to raising funds for cervical cancer research.
