Novel treatment strategies in myeloma
Professor Kwee Yong is Professor and Honorary Consultant in haematology at University College London. Prof Yong is Clinical and Academic Lead for myeloma at University College London Hospital (UCLH) and the North London Cancer Network. She heads a large specialist team at UCLH that includes consultants, research fellows, clinical nurse specialists, research nurses, clinical trial practitioners and data managers. Prof Yong is Chief Investigator on national clinical trials in myeloma and has an interest in early phase studies employing new agents and treatment strategies. She runs an active laboratory programme that has received funding from Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, the Kay Kendall Research Fund, The Wellcome Trust and Cancer Research UK. Prof Yong is a member of the executive committee of the UK Myeloma Forum (UKMF), the research and development and steering committees of the Myeloma UK clinical trials network and the myeloma section of the National Cancer Research Institute haematology clinical studies group. She is a clinical expert for The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) technology appraisals and is a regular speaker at national and international meetings. Prof Yong has contributed to writing the UK 2012 myeloma guidelines and has published more than 80 original papers.
